I loved the result so much, that I had to show you that! This is the first T-shirt yarn basket I ever made and it came out just perfect. I was searching for days to find an easy and attractive pattern and as always I used two and three patterns and techniques at the end! Enjoy the below tutorial and free pattern!
- one big ball of T-shirt yarn at grey color
- a small a mount of T-shirt yarn at yellow-mustard color
- crochet hook 12mm
With the 12mm hook and the grey fabric chain 2.
Round 1: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Round 2: 2 hdc in each st. Join with sl st. (16 hdc)
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next st, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st) around. Join with sl st. (24 hdc)
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 2 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts) around. Join with sl st. (32 hdc)
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in same st, hdc in next 3 sts, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts) around. Join with sl st. (40 hdc)
The next round will be the first row of the body of the basket. You will be working into the back of each hdc.(Half double crochet stitches have a line or ridge on the back of the stitch). You will be working under this line or ridge, not into the regular loops.
Round 6: Ch 1, sc under the line or ridge on the back of the first st of previous round. Continue working sc around. Join with a sl st.
That way you will create a seam separating the bottom and body of the basket.
Round 7: Ch 2, hdc into next st and in each st around. Join with sl st.
Round 8: Ch 1, Working in the back loop only, sc in the same st and in each st around. Join with sl st
Round 9: Ch 2, hdc in next st and in each st around. Join with sl st.
To make the handles just chain 6, skip 5
and slst to the sixth stitch.
Do the same to the other side of the basket.
For the last round change the color and use a dark yellow fabric yarn and sc all around.
At the handles make as many scs as needed to cover the hole handle.
Your modern basket is ready! Enjoy!
You can use it all over your house. I put it in my kitchen and it became my fruit basket,
you can use it also at the bathroom to organize all these bottles,
or at your craft room to keep your yarns together!
I hope you liked it as much as I did!
Thanks for stopping by!
